SquidCI posts each deploy to a Slack channel you choose, and edits the message as the deploy moves on. In a channel of its own, if you like, it also posts when a default branch fails, and when it is fixed.

  1. Open slack in the top bar and add to Slack. An organization admin does this.
  2. Slack asks which workspace to add the SquidCI app to. The app asks for one permission: to post messages in channels it has been invited to.
  3. Back in SquidCI, the workspace shows ● connected.

There are two kinds of message, each to a channel you choose:

channel what is posted
deploys every deploy, edited in place as it moves on
builds a default branch failing, failing again, and fixed

For each:

  1. In Slack, invite the app to the channel: /invite @SquidCI.
  2. Find the channel’s ID at the bottom of its details — like C0123ABCDEF.
  3. In SquidCI, open the channel row, give the ID and post here. SquidCI says hello in the channel to check it may post.

Both can be the same channel. stop posting turns one off.

disconnect, in the workspace’s drawer, stops SquidCI posting and forgets the workspace. Remove the app from the workspace in Slack too.
